Dalai Lama's Secret To Happiness - The Lazy Student Who Became an Inspiring Leader

His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, was born to peasant family in a small village in Tibet. His family lived in poverty and he was actually born on a dirty floor of a horse stable.  His parents were small farmers who lived by growing vegetables. Although he was one of 16 children, because of the conditions they lived in, only seven of his brothers and sisters survived and became adults.

His Holiness is considered to be the present incarnation of the previous thirteen Dalai Lamas of Tibet.

Before the discovery, he was just a boy who loved to spend his time collecting eggs in the family’s chicken coop with his mom.

But did you know that the spiritual leader who inspires millions of people every day, was a lazy student?

As a child he had no idea what his position was all about. He didn't like the studies he had to undertake and considered them a big burden.

"When I was young I had no interest in learning. I usually describe myself as a very very lazy student."

But he said that, as he grew older he took  interest in studying for the knowledge.

"I was a very lazy student and I did not like to study but later I realized the importance of study and how it can transform the society."

The Dalai lama Became one of the most inspiring people in the world. Today, he spends his time traveling around the world spreading His message about peace, compassion, human rights, tolerance and freedom. He is a hero to millions and he even won the Nobel Peace Prize. He's always trying to help people become more happier.

So what is Dalai Lama's  secret to happiness? How To be truly happy?

"It is felt that a disciplined mind leads to happiness and an undisciplined mind leads to suffering."

"Happiness is determined more by one's state of mind than by external events."

"Inner peace is the key: if you have inner peace, the external problems do not affect your deep sense of peace and tranquility... Without this inner peace, no matter how comfortable your life is materially, you may still be worried, disturbed, or unhappy because of circumstances."

If you discipline your mind and reach some sort of inner peace, nothing can disturb your happiness. And I'm convinced that anyone can achieve this state of mind. But you have to be willing to change something. To let go of anger and resentment, to forgive yourself and others and believe that you can truly be happy.

"Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it" - Dalai Lama
