Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 is an AI-powered productivity tool that integrates seamlessly with popular Microsoft 365 Apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more. It provides real-time intelligent assistance, enhancing creativity, productivity, and skills. Here’s how to get started:
Prerequisites:
Ensure the following applications are deployed for your users:
*Word
*Excel
*PowerPoint
*Outlook
*Microsoft Teams
*OneDrive
*SharePoint
*Exchange
1. You’ll need a OneDrive account for features like saving and sharing files.
2. Use the new Outlook for Windows (currently in preview) for seamless integration with Copilot.
3. For Microsoft Teams, use the desktop or web client. Both the current and new versions of Teams are supported.
4. Enable transcription or meeting recording to reference meeting content after meetings.
5. To use Copilot in Microsoft Loop, ensure Loop is enabled for your tenant.
6. For Microsoft Whiteboard, enable it for your organization.
Note :- that Copilot follows standard deployment and update practices for Microsoft 365 Apps, available in all update channels except for the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel.
Access and Configuration:
Microsoft365.com: Access Copilot via Graph-grounded chat in your web browser at Microsoft365.com.
Microsoft 365 (Office) App: Use Copilot within the Microsoft 365 app on your device.
Steps To use Microsoft Copilot
Step 1: Install Visual Studio Code: If you haven't already, download and install Visual Studio Code from the official website: Visual Studio Code.
Step 2: Install GitHub Copilot extension: GitHub Copilot is built into Visual Studio Code as an extension. You can find and install it from the Extensions view (Ctrl+Shift+X or Cmd+Shift+X on macOS) by searching for "GitHub Copilot" and clicking install.
Step 3 : Sign in with GitHub: Since GitHub Copilot relies on GitHub's AI models, you'll need to sign in with your GitHub account within Visual Studio Code. This step ensures you can access Copilot's features fully.
Step 4 : Start coding: Once installed and signed in, open a file in Visual Studio Code and start coding. As you type, GitHub Copilot will provide suggestions for code completion, whole lines, or even entire functions based on the context of your code.
Step 5 : Accept suggestions: GitHub Copilot will present suggestions in the form of code completions in the IntelliSense dropdown or directly in the code editor. You can accept these suggestions by pressing Tab, Enter, or clicking on them.
Step 6 : Review suggestions: GitHub Copilot's suggestions aren't always perfect, so it's essential to review them before accepting. Make sure the suggested code fits your requirements and is secure.
Step 7 : Provide feedback: GitHub Copilot learns from the feedback it receives. If a suggestion is incorrect or not helpful, you can provide feedback directly within Visual Studio Code by clicking on the thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon near the suggestion.
Step 8 : Customize settings: GitHub Copilot comes with various settings that you can customize according to your preferences. You can access these settings by going to File > Preferences > Settings (or using the shortcut Ctrl+,) and searching for "GitHub Copilot."
